Missing Title
Edvardt Abrahams de Moor, c. 1665
The representation of a deer on the stock is a clear reference to hunting, which cannot be said of the mermaid on the other side. The gun has undergone a number of changes over the years. In the 19th century it was fitted with a new matchlock and both stock and barrel were shortened. This shows how hunters adapted their favourite guns to comply with current practice.
