Explanatory note

  • Tussen ca. 1802 en ca. 1805 gaf Wells samen met John Laporte verschillende prenten uit naar tekeningen van Gainsborough. Deze werden in 1819 gebundeld uitgegeven door H.R. Young onder de titel A Collection Of Prints Illustrative Of English Scenery (...). Dit gebundelde werk is door Laporte en Wells opgedragen aan George Hibbert, die een collectie tekeningen van Thomas Gainsborough in zijn bezit had.
