Laid table

Silver table services were an unprecedented luxury in the Netherlands during the 18th century. The design of this miniature service, complete apart from the sauce bowls, is exceptionally fashionable. The candelabra are fully Neoclassical in style, with their foliate motifs, swags and decorative friezes derived from Classical architecture. The same motifs recur on other parts of the service.
