Explanatory note

  • Gebruikt als illustratie eerst in: L. Guicciardini, Descrittione di M. Lodovico Guicciardini ... di tutti i Paesi Bassi, altrimenti detti Germania Inferiore Con tutte le carte di Geographia del paese, & col ritratto naturale di molte terre principali, C. Plantijn, 1581. Waarschijnlijk gekopieerd naar de prent in Abraham Ortelius, Theatrum Orbis Terrarum (1570); op het einde van de Latijnse tekst in de cartouche rechtsonder de groet: Vale. Ab. Ortelius. Niet in Frederik Muller; door het RPK toegevoegd nummer.
