Prisoners of War in Camp Stalag

Dick W.B. van Maarseveen, 1943 - 1945

The Dutchman Van Maarseveen was assigned a job as a photographer while he was a military prisoner of war in the Stalag IV B concentration camp in Mühlberg, Germany. For more than a year, the Germans employed him to record camp life; from the registration of new prisoners to theatrical performances and funerals. In these photographs we see emaciated, probably Russian, prisoners of war being stripped, deloused, and their heads shaved.
