Keenan with a Lasso

Edward Wallowitch (mentioned on object), 1953

A confrontation with a tough guttersnipe; this is what Wallowitch captures and registers in this photographic portrait. Wallowitch is one of many good yet relatively unknown photographers who never truly broke through. His untimely death – at the age of 48 – certainly contributed to this neglect. He took many of the photographs on which Andy Warhol based his Campbell Soup Can series. Ironically, almost is thus familiar with his work, without knowing who was behind it.
