Halve figuur, kale man met een rond brilletje, schrijft in een boek, linkerelleboog op tafel, hand op hoofd. Links op de achtergrond nog een man gebukt over zijn bureau voor een raam, links boven hem nog twee mannen, zittend. Rechts een raam met vaag uitzicht op een drukke straat.
