attributed to Kalker, Jurriaan van, 1725 - 1750
Silver inkstand, possibly by Jurriaan van Kalker in Batavia, 1730 or 1731. The inkstand, with the arms of Batavia, was probably in use at a government department in the Dutch East Indies. It contains two pots for ink and two for fine sand. After writing, the sand was sprinkled over the page to help dry the ink.
