Hospitality (3)

Kinke Kooi, 2016

Kooi’s drawings have gradually become larger and fuller. The one on view here teems with winding, flowering climbing plants. Soft cavities beckon from behind the hospitably drawn curtains. Strands of pearls and pills edge and demarcate curvatures. To create unity in the image Kooi ‘hangs’ her images on a central ‘coat rack,’ often a tree.
