Hindustani and Javanese Indentured Labourers at the Accaribo Plantation

Theodoor Brouwers (possibly), 1916 - 1930

Both Javanese and Hindustani contract labourers work on the Accaribo Plantation. Their homes are located on the edge of the plantation. They often develop close ties and exchange cultural traditions. While their parents work, the two young Hindustani girls look after the little ones, assuming great responsibility at an early age.
