Het VOC-schip 'Woestduin' van de Kamer Amsterdam is vlak voor terugkeer van zijn vijfde thuisreis uit Batavia op de Noorderassen bij Vlissingen vastgelopen. De bemanning wordt gered met sloepen onder leiding van de Vlissinger zeeloodsen, de gebroeders Frans en Jacob Naerebout.
