Half Model of a Launch

Entry

Polychromed wooden half block model of the starboard side of a launch.

The side of the vessel is closed and painted green and black. The interior is closed flush to the gunwale. Pointed bow, the stern has a square tuck and a flat transom. The stempost is curved, the sternpost is straight. The model has no rudder. The sheer rises towards both ends, one wale is indicated and painted red. The hull is S-bottomed and painted white below the waterline.

This model of a United States Navy launch was brought to the Netherlands in the frigate Prins van Oranje from the United States in 1852.1J.M.
