Gepolychromeerd mallenmodel (stuurboord) van een tweemaster. De huid boven het barkhout is gesloten, het dek is gesloten, het schip heeft een reling. Laag rond voorschip, met kluishout en kluisgaten en de voorsteven opkomend tot verticaal. Gewrongen spiegel, hol wulf, geen details van het hek, geen zijgalerij, sterk vallende achtersteven; recht roer met vierkante roerkoning, kiel met hieling. Zeeg naar beide einden oplopend, zeer hoog achterschip, één barkhout en één reehout. Gepiekt rondspant; gebogen kiel met opkomende uiteinden. De grote mast helt naar achter, de fokkemast staat bijna verticaal. Het model heeft twee rusten met drie jufferblokken elk, met puttings; de rusten bestaan uit een massief blok hout in plaats van een plank. Schaal ca. 1:30 (afgeleid).

Entry

Polychromed wooden half bracket model of the starboard side of a two-masted ship, mounted on a rectangular wooden backboard.

The side of the ship is depicted by ribbands attached to frame moulds. Above the wale the side of the ship is planked. A black rail on stanchions is fitted along the entire length of the ship. The deck is closed. The sheer rises towards both ends, rising sharply towards the stern. One wale and a sheer rail are indicated, the wale is painted black. At the bow, the stem comes up to the vertical with a black knee supporting the bowsprit. The stern has a round tuck, a hollow counter and a taffrail. Below the stern a straight, square-headed rudder is indicated. The hull is S-bottomed and painted white below the waterline. The keel is not straight but rises slightly at both ends. The model has two sets of solid channels rigged with deadeyes and chainplates. The position of two masts and the bowsprit is shown in a truncated form.

The model features a paper scale, which does not, however, correspond to the measurements of the model, indicating a scale of approximately 1:40. After comparison with model NG-MC-389-1, it was decided to adhere to the ship’s rather than the paper scale’s measurements.

Although Obreen mentions only one model in his catalogue, two were found (see model NG-MC-389-1). The 6-gun schooner Perseus, 80 feet long, was built by R. Dorsman in Amsterdam in 1799.1J.M. Obreen, Catalogus der verzameling modellen van het Departement van Marine, The Hague 1858, no. 389.
