Entry

Polychromed wooden half bracket model of the starboard side of a two-masted ship, mounted on a rectangular wooden backboard.

The side of the ship is depicted by ribbands attached to frame moulds. At the bow, the bowsprit is supported by a knee and a knighthead is positioned next to it. The stern has a round tuck and a hollow counter. Below the stern a straight, square-headed rudder is indicated. The sheer rises to the rear. One wale and a sheer rail are indicated, both are painted black. The hull is S-bottomed and painted white below the waterline. The position of three masts and the bowsprit is shown in a truncated form. Both masts rake considerably.

The description of the armament was taken from Obreen’s catalogue.1J.M. Obreen, Catalogus der verzameling modellen van het Departement van Marine, The Hague 1858, no. 387.

Scale (on model) approx. 1:48.
