Beplankt mallenmodel (stuurboord) van een tweemaster. Het dek is gesloten en de plaats van de luiken is aangegeven. Rond voorschip met bijna verticale voorsteven. Gewrongen spiegel, hol wulf, het hek ontbreekt, geen zijgalerij, geen roer. Zeeg naar achteren oplopend, één barkhout en twee reehouten. Gepiekt rondspant.

Explanatory note

  • Volgens Obreen stelt model de brik van 14 stukken Pijl voor, uit 1783: hij bedoelt hiermee waarschijnlijk dezelfde Pijl als beschreven onder nummer NG-MC-660, gebouwd door William May te Amsterdam in 1785, lang 80 voet.

Entry

Fully planked wooden half bracket model of the starboard side of a two-masted ship, mounted on a rectangular black, wooden backboard.

The side of the ship is fully planked over frame moulds. The sheer rises to the rear. One wale and two sheer rails are indicated. The bow features an empty beakhead and an almost vertical stem. The stern has a round tuck and a hollow counter. The taffrail is missing. The hull is S-bottomed. The keel drops slightly towards the stern. The deck is closed and the deck hatches are indicated. The position of two masts is shown in a truncated form. The model does not have a bowsprit.

According to Obreen this model represents the 14-gun brig Pijl, built in 1783.1J.M. Obreen, Catalogus der verzameling modellen van het Departement van Marine, The Hague 1858, no. 379. He is probably referring to the same Pijl as the one related to model NG-MC-660. The Pijl measured 80 feet in length and was built by William May (1725-1807) in Amsterdam in 1785.
