Gepolychromeerd mallenmodel (stuurboord) van een tweemaster. De huid boven het barkhout is gesloten. Gewrongen spiegel, hol wulf, gesloten hek, geen zijgalerij; recht roer met vierkante roerkoning. Zeeg naar voor en achter iets oplopend, één barkhout en één reehout. Gepiekt rondspant. Schaal ca. 1:40 (afgeleid).

Explanatory note

  • De brik Havik, lang 75 voet, werd in 1806-1807 door P. Glavimans Jz. te Rotterdam gebouwd. Ofschoon ontworpen voor tien stukken volgens Obreen, werd ze slechts van zes stukken voorzien. Havik deed van 1814 tot 1816 dienst in het Nederlands eskader in de Middellandse Zee en werd in 1828 te Hellevoetsluis verkocht.

Entry

Polychromed wooden half bracket model of the starboard side of a two-masted ship, mounted on a rectangular wooden backboard.

The side of the ship is depicted by ribbands attached to frame moulds. Above the wale the side is planked. The sheer rises towards both ends. One wale and a sheer rail are indicated; the wale is painted black. The bow features an empty beakhead with two cheeks and a black knighthead. The stern has a round tuck, a hollow counter and a taffrail. Below the stern a straight, square-headed rudder is indicated. The hull is S-bottomed and painted white below the waterline. The position of two masts and the bowsprit is shown in a truncated form. The mainmast is missing, but its former placement can still be seen.

The brig Havik, 75 feet long, was built by Pieter Glavimans Jansz (1768-1850) in Rotterdam from 1806 to 1807. Although according to Obreen this brig was built for ten guns,1J.M. Obreen, Catalogus der verzameling modellen van het Departement van Marine, The Hague 1858, no. 366. it was only armed with six. Havik served with the Dutch squadron in the Mediterranean from 1814 to 1816 and was sold out of the service in Hellevoetsluis in 1828.2A.J.
