Views of VOC bases, by David and Johannes Vingboons, 1663. By 1660, the VOC had built up an extensive network of trading bases. For the Company's headquarters at East India House, the directors commissioned a series of ten views of places in Asia where the VOC had established a foothold. Seven of these views have survived.
