• inscription: ‘Portion of a Photograph (magnified 4.2 diameters), representing a mountain side four miles distant (the exterior Northern wall of the Great Crater), and the nearer country, from a Camera, stationed within a few feet of the level of the sea. This Photograph is unserted for differential purposes only; having been produced with the same Camera, Chemicals & Manipulation as the three preceeding ones, but in the denser atmosphere near the sea-level instead of the rarified air of the Mountain top. See p.p 513,514.’
