Getting started with the collection:
Gezicht in fort Malachov bij Sebastopol
attributed to James Robertson, 1855
The hustle and bustle of a family with young children: intimate images of daily life one hundred years ago taken just around the corner of the museum, near the Vondelpark. Teding van Berkhout, who knew everything about 17th-century drawings and worked in the Rijksmuseum, lived there. He would have been so surprised to see private photographs hanging on the wall here, and ones taken by himself no less.
