Het Christuskind ligt op een houten bank met stro. Hij wordt ondersteund door zijn moeder en lacht naar een herder, die naast de bank zit, leunend op zijn stok. Twee cherubijntjes zweven boven het Kind. Jozef zit achter Maria.
