This building was Emperor Kangxi’s private study, where he would host celebrations for the Double Seventh Festival (the seventh day of the seventh month), with his consorts and high-ranking officials. Featuring a Buddhist altar, it also served for some time as the residence of the emperor’s mother, Empress Dowager Xiaohui.
