The inscription translates a: ‘Do not quench the spirit’. On the base Van Heemskerk recorded that the bottle was a gift to his daughter-in-law, Anna Coninck, on the first anniversary of her marriage to his son Joost.

    Gladde standring. Licht ingestoken ziel. Afgeplat, bolvormig lichaam. Slanke hals, waaromheen een druipring is gelegd, die gevat is in een zilveren montuur met een oog, waaraan een stop heeft gehangen aan een ketting. Op het lichaam is in Italiaanse letters gecalligrafeerd 'Blusch den geest niet uyt.' en onder op de bodem 'Dit's Anna Coninks eerst jaer-tijds Gift. Van haer Schoonvaders oude hand en stift' en rond het pointilmerk 'Willem van Heemskerk AEs.73 Ao. 1686'.
