Figurine of a Seated Man

Dehua in Fujian Province has long been famous for its superb porcelain, the so-called blanc de Chine. It is characterized by a rich, glossy, and transparent glaze without crackle that pools in the recesses of the surface. The colour of this glaze can vary from an ivory or creamy white to a slightly bluish- or greyish-white.

    Beeld van porselein, bedekt met een doorschijnend wit glazuur. Het beeld stelt een man voor gezeten op een rots, naast hem een hoge rotspunt; zijn uitgetrokken schoen ligt voor hem en zijn blote voet rust op zijn andere been; in zijn rechterhand een stokje waarmee hij in zijn oor peutert. Beeld is gerestaureerd. Blanc de Chine.
