For many, slicing bread is a quick everyday activity requiring little thought. Here it is captured in a quiet, intimate manner, a regular and mindful ritual in the life of a simple farmer. Farmer Evert lives in his own universe, without television or electricity, along with his goat and some chickens. The photograph belongs to a series for which the photographer followed the farmer for a period of many years.
