Eerste steenlegging sluis Saramacca-kanaal

De ceremoniële eerstesteenlegging voor de sluis in de Saramacca Kanaal te Paramaribo. In de bouwput de gouverneur Titus van Asch van Wijck omringd door een grote groep toeschouwers, op de bouwstelling een muziekkorps. Op het hoger gelegen grond een grote groep Surinamers. Fotoafdruk in een fotoalbum van Théodore van Lelyveld over Suriname uit 1895-1898.
