Draw-leaf table

The two leaves under the tabletop can be pulled out, hence the name ‘draw-leaf table’. When these withdrawing leaves are fully extended, the top drops down between them. The table’s length is thus doubled. Draw-leaf tables were fixtures in the homes of affluent citizens during the 17th century. This is an exceptionally luxurious example, with carving on the baluster legs.

    Trektafel van eikenhout op vier door voetregels verbonden poten, met vaasvormige middelgeleding, die rondom met gestoken festoenen en bovenop met acanthusblad versierd is. De voetregels zijn aan twee zijden uitgegrond en vertonen van buiten staande knorren en aan de binenenkant vlechtband. Het verband van de tafel, die twee trekbladen heeft, is door middel van ledikantschroeven verkregen. De kopeinden der brug zijn aan weerszijden door vulstukken bedekt. Het blad bestaat uit vier breedten in "herlijst".
