Dish with the History of Manius Curius Dentatus

Depicted in this drawing is a probably full-size, partly gilded silver dish. Although the sheet is most likely a design, it could also have been made as a representation of an existing object. The depiction extolls the civic virtue and sobriety of a consul from Roman antiquity. Such large silver dishes with embossed scenes were made around 1700 in Rome, Genoa and other Italian cities.
