Dish with incises pearl
anonymous, c. 1680 - c. 1720
Aubergine is one of the monochrome glazes of the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911). With its purplish tonality it differs from the dark blue or turquoise-blue glazes of the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644). The glaze is slightly thinner around the rim of these dishes, and appears as a dark purple on the more thickly coated well.
