Dish and Vase

anonymous, c. 1700

The dish is covered with a dark blue glaze and adorned with a dragon chasing a pearl among clouds. The vase is covered with a red copper glaze. The application of both the blue and the red on these objects without any unevenness or colour difference exemplifies remarkable craftsmanship. The items were probably used in the emperor’s household.

    Schaal van porselein, bedekt met een monochroom donkerblauw glazuur. De schaal is aan de voor- en achterzijde bedekt met ingegrifte parel najagende, vijfklauwige draken tussen wolken en vlammen. Binnen de voetring een doorschijnend glazuur met het zes-karaktermerk van keizer Kangxi in een dubbele cirkel. Monochromen.
