anonymous, c. 1506 - c. 1521

The centre of this dish is decorated with a sprig of pomegranate blossom. Encircling the rim are branches of four different fruits: peach, date plum, cherry, and lychee, all applied with blue pigment. The yellow colour was added subsequently, and the dish was fired a second time. This exceptionally rare object was made for the emperor’s court.

  • Description

    Schotel van porselein, bedekt met een geel glazuur en beschilderd in onderglazuur blauw. De schotel is, behalve binnen de voetring, bedekt met een geel glazuur met hierin uitgespaard op het plat een bloeiende plant in een medaillon; de wand met vier fruittakken; de buitenwand met vier lotusranken. Gemerkt op de onderzijde met het zes-karaktermerk van keizer Zhengde in een dubbele cirkel. Ming porselein.
