Firing such a large surface with enamel paint presents quite a challenge: the object can buckle causing the enamel paint to flake off. However, this did not happen to this perfect dish. With its exceedingly refined painted decoration it is a highlight of the production of the Cantonese enamel painting workshops.

    Achtlobbige schotel, in het plat beschilderd met grote bloemtakken die grotendeels linksonder zijn samengenomen tot een boeket. Daartussen strooibloemen en twee vlinders. Bij de bloemen vallen vooral de pioenen, irissen, magmoliatakken en ugly-vruchten op. De voorstelling wordt omgeven door een lambrequin-band, opgevuld met blauwe ranken. In de rand een brokaatmotief met afwisselend een veld met pioenrozen en een gestileerde bloem. Aan de buitenwand een cracked ice motief en in het centrum een eenvoudig bloemmotief.
