From the late 16th century porcelain kilns in Jingdezhen produced thinly potted kraak dishes decorated with fluid underglaze painting in blue. A characteristic feature of this ware is the division of the border into alternating narrow and wide panels. It was a true export product for the porcelain’s standardised sizes and relatively light weight made it easy to transport.

  • Description

    Schotel van porselein, beschilderd in onderglazuur blauw. Op het plat een stervormig cartouche met daarin vier vogels in een rivierlandschap met bloeiende planten (lotus). Om het cartouche lotusranken, swastikapatroon en een schubmotief. De rand is verdeeld in afwisselend brede en smalle vakken. De brede vakken met gelukssymbolen of een perziktak. De smalle vakken met een swastikapatroon of schubmotief onderbroken door een cartouche met een strik. De buitenwand is verdeeld in afwisselend brede en smalle vakken, met in de brede vakken gestileerde parels en stippen. De smalle vakken met een paddenstoel (lingzhi). Kraakporselein in blauw-wit.
