Getting started with the collection:
Design for Two Moon Flasks
attributed to Amédée de Caranza, c. 1878 - c. 1885
This design for the Vieillard manufactory in Bordeaux shows the front and back of a moon flask next to each other, and above this the front of a second one. The form and the decoration are inspired by Japanese art. Amédée de Caranza was probably the artist’s name for someone whose real identity is as yet unknown.
