Deck Light

anonymous, c. 1820 - c. 1830

Rond patentglas met los rooster. De messing flens wordt op het dek geschroefd met zes schroeven, het glas langs de onderzijde ingebracht met de matte bolle kant naar beneden, en met een bajonetsluiting met drie nokken in de flens opgesloten; op de rand zitten twee handvaten voor het draaien. Als het glas geopend is en in drie daarvoor aangebrachte beugels aan de flens hangt, kan van bovenop het gietijzeren rooster ingelaten worden.

Round deck light with loose grille.

The brass flange is designed to be screwed into the deck with six screws, the glass inserted from below, the frosted convex side downwards, and can be closed with a bayonet catch with three notches; the glass has two handles for turning. When the glass is lowered and hung in three straps attached to the flange for the purpose, the cast iron grating can be placed on top of it.1J.M.
