Illustratie voor het verhaal 'L'Heureux Divorce' uit J.F. Marmontel's verhalenbundel 'Contes moreaux'. De jonge Lucilia is getrouwd met een oude marquis. Haar huwelijk m=komt niet overeen met de romantische voorstellingen die ze zich in haar schooltijd ervan maakte. Droevig zit ze in haar kamer aan een tafel bij kaarslicht.
