The Thunder God Raijin
Ogata Gekkô (signed by artist), c. 1890 - c. 1900
The thunder god Raijin is depicted at an unguarded moment. He is bathing in the river and has therefore hung the ring of drums, with which he makes the sound of thunder, on a willow tree. The surrounding landscape is laid down with just a few strokes of the brush.
