Spotprent op de Italiaanse verliezen in de slag bij Adowa op 1 maart 1896 tijdens de oorlog met Ethiopië (Abessinië). Centraal verliest de Italiaanse koning Umberto I bijna zijn kroon in de wind, rechts ligt verslagen op de grond de Italiaanse premier Franceso Crispi. Links in de wolken de zegevierende Ethiopische Negus.
