Danish chair
Gerrit Thomas Rietveld, c. 1946
Gerrit Rietveld was one of the first Dutch designers to use plywood, which is made of multiple thin layers of wood veneer bonded together and pressed under great pressure into a particular form. This chair consists of three interconnected U-shapes. The outer dimensions form an imaginary cube. A strict geometric order thus also underlies the rounded forms.
