Cut Out Photographs from an Album

Dolph Kessler (1884-1945), gelatin silver prints, 1916-1919

Dolph grew up with photography. He had already seen his father practise it and bought his own camera in 1908 to record his world tour. These are pages from an album that he embellished with coloured chalk. They were probably cut out of a photo album at some point. We see Kessler’s wife Elisabeth Stoop in a maternity bed with their first child.
