Commissioned by Edward Howard (1686-1777), 9th Duke of Norfolk, London, c. 1733 - 1777; by descent to Bernard Fitzalan-Howard (1908-75), 16th Duke of Norfolk, London;{Provenance reconstructed by Saint Louis Art Museum.} his sale, London (Christie’s), 7 February 1938 sqq., no. 61, the entire tea and coffee service, to the dealer Saemy Rosenberg, Amsterdam with the dealer Armand Wittekind, London;{Den Blaauwen 2000, no. 105, at the auction the tea and coffee service consisted of a coffee pot, a teapot, a tea pot stand, a teapot, a rinsing bowl, seven teacups, eight cups with two handles and sixteen saucers.} donated by the dealer Saemy Rosenberg, Amsterdam, to the museum, 1939
