Charger

De Grieksche A, c. 1680 - c. 1685

The Chinese decorations on this large dish, or charger, are typical of Delftware from the second half of the 17th century. The addition of purple, using manganese pigment, was a new development, however. The painter made optimum use of the two colours in the rendering of the trees and clothing.

    Schotel van faience met een decoratie naar het Chinese porselein uit de overgangsperiode: bedekt met tinglazuur en beschilderd in blauw en mangaan met op het plat vijf figuren in een landschap en op de rand vier groepen van twee of drie Chinese figuren.
