Chair in Villa Negroni
Jacques-Louis Davis (1748-1825), graphite, pen and brown ink, brown and grey wash, c. 1775-1780
The famous painter David drew this well-known chair from Roman antiquity during his sojourn in Rome. He made use of it when at a later time he wished to depict authentic furniture in his history paintings with subjects from Roman times.
