Cebu City
Ed van der Elsken, 1959-10 - 1960-05
After West and South Africa, Malaysia and Singapore, Ed van der Elsken and Gerda van der Veen sailed to the Philippines. In the port of Cebu City he extensively photographed the bars and dance halls so gladly frequented by sailors. In the final selection for Sweet Life he chose another shot of Susie’s Blue Bar (‘Drinking & Dancing’) and omitted the photograph on the right.
