Cape with small dots and rosettes

As larger puffed sleeves came into fashion in the early 1890s, the sleeveless cape replaced the tighter dolman coat. This black velvet cape is embroidered with small white dots and rosettes. The shoulder is tamboured with a tapered design. This decoration with its resemblance to snowflakes and icicles has a wintry feel. The cape is lined with red silk damask.

    Cape, sortie, van zwart fluweel, voorzien van geborduurde witte nopjes en twee rijen rozetten. Onder de opstaande boord is in tamboureerwerk met ecrukleurig garen een kraag geborduurd. Op de boord zijn struisveren genaaid, twerwijl van achter een strik, van voren twee strikken met lange slippen van zwart satijnen lint aangebracht zijn. De voering is van rood satijnen damast.
