Brisé fan

Huchang (Fychong), c. 1800 - c. 1825

In 1728 the Dutch East India Company set up a trading office in Canton in China. This facilitated the import of Chinese luxury goods into the Netherlands. It was also possible to order custom-made items custom, for example this fan for Cecilia Geertruy Tierens Segersdochter of Zaltbommel. Her initials are visible in the oval medallion.
