Boxes of Photographs Made for the Photographer’s Two Daughters
jonkheer Hendrik Teding van Berkhout (1879-1969), anonymous, c. 1905 - c. 1925
Amateurs photographed not only day to day, but also private life. Teding had this box made especially for the photographs he took of his daughters from their birth to puberty. Amateurs recorded personal moments for themselves alone. The sole audience for these shots was their own family: the pictures and albums had meaning only for them.
