Bowl

anonymous, c. 1700 - c. 1799

The inside of this bowl was decorated with stamped and carved motifs, which were then filled with white slip. A layer of white slip was brushed over the outer surface of the bowl. This type of stoneware was produced in large quantities and was an affordable imitation of the more precious white porcelain. The appearance was less smooth and refined, but more natural.

  • Description

    Kom van steengoed, bedekt met een wit slib en een groen glazuur. Op de bodem een medaillon met een ingedrukt bloempatroon. De binnenwand met banden met verschillende ingegrifte decoratieve patronen. De ingegrifte decoratie is gevuld met een wit slib sanggam-techniek). De buitenwand is gedeeltelijk bedekt met een wit slib, waarover een groen glazuur. De onderzijde is ongeglazuurd. De kom is gebroken geweest en gerepareerd met goudlak.
