Bottle

anonymous, c. 1400 - c. 1424

This oblate, spherical bottle with a raised neck is decorated with an overall pattern of underglaze cobalt-blue floral scrolls. This rare artefact is from Halmahera, an island in the Moluccas in the Indonesian archipelago. It demonstrates that by that time, Chinese porcelain was already being disseminated throughout Asia.
