Bottle

De Grieksche A, c. 1680 - c. 1685

Vessels of this form are often referred to as pilgrim flasks because they resemble the bottles travellers carried on a strap hanging from their belt on long journeys. This one probably derives from silver models that no longer had any practical function, but instead simply embellished formally laid tables or sideboards.
