Servant's badge. After having resided in The Hague and Utrecht for short periods, King Louis Napoleon moved to Amsterdam in 1808. The king took the town hall on Dam Square as his new palace. The badge, designed for the king's servants, was probably made to mark the official entry of Louis to the palace on 20 April 1808.

    Zilveren draagteken bestaande uit een ovaal medaillon met parelrand waarbinnen krans, met achter glas een Napoleontische adelaar op blauwe achtergrond; boven drie kettinkjes naar een grote haak versierd met gesmede strik; onder, aan drie draagoogjes en 8-vormige schakels, drie kalebas-vormige aanhangseltjes. Keerzijde: voorzien van twee dwars liggende beugels en te openen d.m.v. twee scharnieren met verwijdbare spil. Opschrift: Amsterdam; b (1808); meesterteken J.F.E.; IO; ZII op de haak: dolfijn in driehoek; ZII.
